Adventure-Building Support for The GameMaster's Apprentice!
Minimal Layout, Maximum Content!*
Note: Each of these Adventure Guides is included with their respective genre deck of GameMaster's Apprentice cards (save the Fantasy guide, which is bundled with the Base Deck); if you purchase or plan to purchase all the decks, you do not need to purchase this separately! This pack exists for those who want all AGs but only one or two decks.
This pack includes six Adventure Guides, each containing the same basic content, but tuned to their respective genres.
Tools and tables for creating story seeds, encounters, and characters!
These Guides each cover the following things in ways that support the use of The GameMaster's Apprentice:
- Writing the framework for an adventure.
- Randomly generating a story seed.
- Adding flavor to NPCs.
- Making encounters even more random.
This means that, once you've read one AG, using the others will be a snap--just reference the appropriate tables from your preferred guide for each use!
However, each guide also includes one or two unique sections. Located at the end of each guide, they are as follows:
Age of Sail: Ship Name Generation (Note: At the time of release, the Age of Sail Deck is not yet available to the public. It and its AG are due out by the 3rd quarter of 2016!)
Demon Hunters: Monster of the Week
Fantasy: Loot!
Horror: Fearful Chaos; Suspicion Tag Symbols; Questionable Decisions
SciFi: Motion Sensor and Scanner; Almost Human
Steampunk: Scandal!
*A note on art and layout: The original Kickstarter for the GameMaster's Apprentice included these Adventure Guides as stretch goals, and the intent had been to give them each a professional layout treatment. However, during the writing process, the guides (along with the instructions for the cards) each grew to two- or three-times their original length, as we refined the content to make them more useful. Having gone from ~100 total pages of layout to ~280, we no longer met our original budget constraints, and after considering our options, we have decided to make them available to everyone now, as they are, rather than delay their release infinitely while we wait for more money to mysteriously appear. And so they are now collected together, for less than a dollar, with their minimalist art and layout.
Please enjoy them; we loved writing and using them, and we count this a lesson learned about the financial world of game publishing! Larcenous Designs, LLC, will budget future projects to avoid this problem.
These Adventure Guides were created with the support of over 360 individuals on Kickstarter, and would not exist in their current form otherwise! Thank you!
